What is a BIOS? #
BIOS Stands for “Basic Input Output System”. Its config is stored in the ROM(Read Only Memory) which is stored on the CPU or the Motherboard and is the memory that can beaccessed the fasted.
It also only supports drives of up to 2TB and only four primary partitions.
What is UEFI? #
UEFI Stands for “Unified Extensible Firmware Interface”. This sits on a seperate partition where it stores it’s configuration. It also supports larger drives and more partitions. Often Confused with BIOS.
The point of this Post #
The point of this post is that if you have bought a new computer chances are it runs a UEFI but people still say that you can boot into the BIOS even though it doesn’t exist on your computer. So this post was just to try and stop people from mistaking a UEFI for a BIOS.
